      Reinhard Steennot

      Biography


      After having obtained a law degree from the Ghent University in 1998, Reinhard Steennot joined the Financial Law Institute as a full time researcher, sponsored by the Fund for Scientific Research. Starting his career, he wrote a doctoral thesis on the legal problems arising from consumer protection in electronic payment systems. Since October 2003 he has taken up a teaching assignment with courses on consumer, economic and banking law. Nowadays, his research focuses on banking law, consumer protection and market practices. He has written several books and many articles in Dutch, English and French. Reinhard Steennot is also a member of the Belgian Commission on Unfair Contract Terms and member of the Supervisory Board of the Belgian Financial Services Market Authority.
